The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that two drivers suffered injuries following a collision between two vehicles on Highway 7 in Perth, Ontario, on Thursday afternoon. The OPP received a call just before 3:30 p.m. regarding the collision at the intersection of Highway 7 and Wilson Street.
Emergency responders found one driver trapped in their vehicle upon arrival. Firefighters extricated the individual, who was then taken to a hospital for treatment. The second driver was also transported to the hospital. As per a police update on Friday, one driver is in a non-life-threatening condition, while the status of the other driver remains unclear.
According to the OPP, a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 7 collided with an SUV at the intersection. Prior to the crash, multiple traffic complaints had been lodged concerning one of the vehicles involved, identified as a Kia Rio.
The investigation into the factors leading to the collision is still in progress. In light of the incident, police requested that the public avoid the intersection of Highway 7 and Wilson Street in Perth, although the roads have since reopened.
